Bartoli at seventh in women's tennis, Serena Williams No. 1
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., July 8 () -- Marion Bartoli matches her previous career high by moving to No. 7 in the women's tennis rankings after winning the Wimbledon title.Bartoli defeated Sabine Lisicki 6-1, 6-4 in Saturday's women's singles final at Wimbledon. It was her first major tournament championship. Bartoli had been in one other Grand Slam title match, losing to Venus Williams in the 2007 Wimbledon final. In the ensuing 23 major tournaments, she advanced to the semifinals once and quarterfinals two other times.A series of high-profile upsets and withdrawals or retirements due to injury marked Wimbledon and while Serena Williams remains No. 1, only two other players -- fourth-ranked Agnieszka Radwanska and No. 8 Petra Kvitova -- are in the same place in the Top 10 they were when Wimbledon began. Radwanska was a semifinalist at Wimbledon and Kvitova reached the quarterfinals.Maria Sharapova returns to the No. 2 spot, with Victoria Azarenka down to third. Li Na passes Sara Errani for fifth. Bartoli is up eight spots to seventh while Angelique Kerber slips two places to ninth and Caroline Wozniacki is down one to 10th. Maria Kirilenko, now 12th, falls from the Top 10.Lisicki jumps from 24th to No. 18. The fourth semifinalist was Kirsten Flipkens, who goes from 20th to No. 15, which is a career high.Errani is the only Top 10 player in a WTA tournament this week. Due to a change in the schedule from last year, she is the defending champion at both of this week's tournaments. She'll compete at the Italiacom Open in Italy but Lucie Safarova will be the top seed at the Hungarian Grand Prix, which was contested in May last year. The WTA Top 10 listing players, christian louboutin outlet, home country and rankings points total:1.
