THEIR DAY IN COURT
NEW GLASGOW - Two males charged with the attempted murder of a 19-year-old New Glasgow man appeared briefly in New Glasgow provincial court Wednesday before being remanded into custody until next week,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
A 17-year-old from the New Glasgow area appeared and was represented by Legal Aid lawyer Doug Lloy. Shackled at the ankles and dressed in blue jeans half-tucked into his socks, a hooded zip-up blue and green sweatshirt and basketball sneakers without laces,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], he was quiet and attentive throughout the brief appearance. The 17-year-old will be back in provincial court Wednesday, March 26,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], for a show cause hearing to determine whether he can be released from custody before trial.
Lloy advised the court he may be unable to represent the youth in future appearances because he has previously appeared on behalf of the victim.
The second accused,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Bradley Rico Oliver,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], 20, of 3449 Rowe Avenue,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Halifax, appeared Wednesday afternoon,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], represented by Legal Aid lawyer Steve Robertson. The attempted murder charge read out in court accused Oliver of discharging a shotgun in an attempt to murder Riley Lloyd. Oliver was shackled and dressed in khaki pants,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], running shoes and black zip-up hooded sweatshirt. He was ordered to return for a show cause hearing Thursday,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], March 27, when he will be represented by Halifax lawyer Cameron Mac Keen.
