The Texas Legends and The Salvation Army have partnered as the Legends' players will wear unique "The Salvation Army" uniforms on Jan. 12, versus the Austin Toros.
"This is an opportunity to not only continue to raise awareness about The Salvation Army, but also to thank our many volunteers who work overtime through the Christmas season," commented DFW Commander Major Ward Matthews. "While the Dallas Cowboys' game on Thanksgiving traditionally marks the beginning of our season of giving, this Texas Legends' game represents a thank you to all of those who have served through the Holiday season."
The Legends will wear customized jerseys celebrating The Salvation Army, uniquely branded with both the Legends logo and The Salvation Army. Select jerseys will be available via a silent auction during the game,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], with all proceeds going back to The Salvation Army. As part of the festivities of the night, select individuals from The Salvation Army will be recognized as "Legends of the Night."
- The Erie Bayhawks (10-6) defeated the Texas Legends (11-6) 86-83 to conclude the four-day D-League Showcase on Jan. 10. Kennedy led three Bayhawks in double figures with 22 points. Kennedy was 5-of-11 from the floor and 12-of-12 from the free throw line while also hauling down nine caroms. Keith Benson (14 points, eight rebounds) and Henry Sims (11 points,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], 10 rebounds) were the other two Erie players in double figures. Mike Singletary added nine points and 10 rebounds.
Sean Singletary and Melvin Ely each had 17 points to lead the Legends.
- The Phoenix Suns assigned Diante Garrett to the Bakersfield Jam, Phoenix's NBA Development League affiliate on Jan. 10. The 6-4 rookie, out of Iowa State,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], scored six points and dished out seven assists in six games for the Suns this season.
Garrett is expected to be available for the Jam when they host the Los Angeles D-Fenders on Jan. 11.
- The Canton Charge used a strong fourth quarter to win their sixth straight game. Canton (12- defeated Santa Cruz (9-6) 104-93 on Jan. 10,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
A season-high seven players scored in double figures for the Charge, led by Kyle Gibson's 23 points. Gibson, who has scored at least 20 points for the third straight game, was 6-of-12 from the field and 9-of-10 from the charity stripe. - The Fort Wayne Mad Ants won both of their D-League Showcase games as they defeated the Rio Grande Valley Vipers 116-97 on Jan. 9, and the Tulsa 66ers 121-115 on Jan. 10.
Anthony Richardson scored a season-high 28 points, on 11-of-13 shooting to lead the Mad Ants (9-10) over the 66ers. Luke Harongody (18 points, 10 rebounds), Tony Mitchell (15 points), Ron Howard (15 points), Sadiel Rojas (14 points),[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Brandon Wallace (12 points) and Daryl Partin (11 points) also scored in double figures for Fort Wayne.
Jeremy Lamb, on assignment from the Oklahoma City Thunder, scored 33 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Tulsa. - The Iowa Energy will give away winter hats to the first 1,000 fans that enter the Energy's Arena on Jan. 13 versus the Canton Charge.
The Energy also announced a brand new all-you-can-eat group package and a change in date for their Watch Party. For just $20, each person in the group receives a sideline ticket and all-you-can-eat hot dogs, soft pretzels, popcorn and soda.
The Energy Watch Party originally set for Jan. 8. The 6-6 forward led the Mad Ants to a 2-0 week. Mitchell averaged 21.5 points,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], 9.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.5 steals in Fort Wayne's two victories over the Santa Cruz Warriors.
- Santa Cruz waived Shawn Taggart on Jan. 8. The Warriors acquired Taggart, a 6-10 forward, from the Springfield Armor that sent Paul Carter and a fifth round pick in the 2013 D-League draft on Jan. 7.
Taggart averaged 8.1 points and 4.8 rebounds in 13 games for Springfield this year.
-The Cleveland Cavaliers recalled forward Jon Leuer from the Canton Charge on Jan. 7. The 6-7 rookie averaged 19.5 points and 12.3 rebounds in eight games for the Charge this season.
