Food stamp payments malfunction in 17 states
TULSA, Okla., Oct. 13 () -- A computer failure resulted in food stamp payments being denied in 17 U.S. states, but the problem has since been fixed, gucci outlet online, officials said. The temporary glitch took place at around 11 a.m. ET Saturday and was resolved by that evening, said Jennifer Wasmer, a spokeswoman for Xerox, a contractor for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program."We realize that access to these benefits is important to families in the states we serve," Wasmer said. "We continue to investigate the cause of the issue so we can take steps to ensure a similar interruption does not re-occur."The states affected by the glitch were not reported.Officials in several states said that though the program is administered by the Department of Agriculture, the glitch was not a result of the partial government shutdown, CNN reported.Wasmer said the failure, which also impacted the Women Infants and Children program, happened during a test of Xerox's backup systems.
