Joe Tereshinski dead at 89 after leaving family legacy at UGA football
ATHENS, Ga., June 11 () -- Joe Tereshinski Sr., a tight end at the University of Georgia who helped the team win a national title in 1942 and two SEC titles, has died, media reports say.While he went on to play eight seasons with the Washington Redskins, three generations of Tereshinskis followed him to the UGA football program, the Athens (Ga.) Banner Herald reported Monday.Born in northeast Pennsylvania, Tereshinski remained in the Washington, D.C., area after leaving the Redskins. He recently moved to an assisted living facility in Athens, where he died Sunday morning.He left behind a family legacy of football at UGA.Son Joe Jr. played center for the university from 1974 to 1976 and has been a member of the UGA staff since 1982.Joe Jr.'s younger brother, Wally,[url=http://www.pachasvip.com]hollister outlet[/url], was a tight end for the 1976 Southeastern Conference title team.Joe III, Joe Sr.'s grandson, started as a quarterback in 2006, but was injured in the second game of the season, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.The elder Tereshinski was married to the late Gertrude Tereshinski for more than 55 years.
