Marquis said she was told the fire involved some type of malfunction with the stove and its associated apparatus,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and that the first flames were on the roof.
The house and everything inside was destroyed,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], including antiques they were in the process of transferring to their new storefront at 310 E. Washington St. in Bridgeport. They formerly had a shop on Main Street in Danbury.
The house is owned by George Trodella,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Marquis described him as a family friend and real estate developer from Florida who purchased the house and property and rented it to Maquis and Rotolo,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. The plan was for them to save money and purchase the house from Trodella,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
"It was such a special house. It was a 1950 modern house. It was all original,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], never touched. Pink stucco and black block. It's such a shame,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], because that house was spectacular."
